Being new to this whole blog thing, we decided to choose a cult classic that we both love, so of course we had to choose the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay!
(Please excuse that our palette is not in pristine condition, we forgot to photograph it before using it a few times, I guess it just shows how much it gets used!)

Colours:
In total, there are 12 shades in the palette, there are 9 shimmery shade and 3 matte. They are mostly everyday wearable and can be used for anything from a natural look to a smokey eye.
In order of palette left to right:
Foxy- It is a yellow toned matte colour (although it does have a very slight sheen too it) that makes a great brow highlight.
Half Baked- Is a gorgeous shimmery gold colour, that looks great both swept over the lid for a more natural golden glow or packed over other colours for a more intensive gold look. It looks great all year round (but especially in summer) and really compliments blue and green eyes especially.
Bootycall- If a creamy champagne colour with a slight shimmer, and looks great in the inner corner or as a more shimmery brow highlight.
Chopper- It is an amber shade with a silver glitter in it and again this great for just all over the lid, however the colour pay off on the skin is different to that in the palette.
Tease- Is another one of the three matte shades, it is a light dusty greyish taupe and works great for quite a subtle crease colour, although the matte shades in the naked palette are slightly better for the crease.
Snakebite- Is quite a dark brown bronzey colour, great for putting in the outer corners for a darker look or a little bit swept under your lower lash line.
Suspect- One of our favourites! It is a pale sandy gold and looks really pretty all over the lid for in the day when you don't want something to heavy or dark. It is also just a very wearable colour and suits all skin tones.
Pistol- Probably the one colour neither of us have used too much. Pistol is a Silver dark grey colour and too us seem like quite a hard to wear shade. It could potentially be used to create a nice smokey eye but otherwise isn't very wearable.
Verve- Is a very light silver champagne colour, that could be used all over the lids for those of you who like a very natural looking eye, or for the ones who prefer a darker eye could be used as a nice inner corner highlight.
YDK- Is fairly like chopper but is more of a bronze as a pose to an orangey amber shade. It looks really nice all over the lid for a darker look or for a lighter look just in the outer third pair with another colour like suspect.
Busted- Is a dark brown/maroon colour but with a little bit of a golden shimmer, similar to snake bite it looks great in the outer 'v', outer corners or swept under the lower lash line.
Blackout- Is a completely matte black colour and is therefore quite un-wearable for those who like a fairly natural eye however it can be worked as a out corner colour of a smokey eye, also it is useful for soften and neatening liquid or gel liner or even used as a liner on its own.
Formula's:
The 9 shimmery shades:
- Great colour pay-off
- Although they are creamy, they can have a bit of fall-out if you're not careful (but this is easily avoided by packing on the colour rather than sweeping it across the lid).
The 3 matte shades:
Because of the high expectation that the shimmery shades delivered, the matte shades disappointed us a little as they were:- not quite as creamy
- a tiny bit chalky
- have a tendency to be less pigmented and therefore need layering, however they still do the job, just require a bit more time and effort!
The packaging:
The packaging of this palette just completes how perfect it is! Not only is it travel friendly, but it's also a lot easier to clean than the Naked Original Palette as it can just be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The sturdiness also prevents any of the shadows breaking and it contains a large, good quality mirror which can be used for make-up on the go.The Brush:
Along with the palette comes a dual ended brush. On one end is a flat shader brush, which is great for packing colour onto the lid, taking colour all over the lid and applying a thin amount of eye shadow. On the other end is a fluffy brush, this is great for blending, creating a fairly thick crease or lightly sweeping the colour over the lid. We really like this brush since its very versatile and you can just use that one brush to create a whole look! It's also great if you haven't got many eye shadow brushes as it includes the basic 2 staple brushes. The Lip-Junkie:
Instead of a mini primer potion being included with the palette, a mini lip junkie was included, which personally we were both disappointed in as it doesn't seem to fit with the theme of eye-shadow, but also the product itself is disappointing, here's why:
- On the lips, it's the classic old-school lipgloss that's super sticky and would be a nightmare for people with long hair!
- The colour is nothing amazing and doesn't show up on pigmented lips
- The squeezy packaging makes it difficult to apply
- It doesn't last long at all
- It leaves a tingly sensation on the lips
- It smells very similar to the lush mint julips lip scrub which we both absolutely love!
- The packaging is handy for travelling (and the lid is very pretty!)
Great for people new to eyeshadow too!
This palette is great if you're a beginner because its so versatile and you can achieve many different looks using only this palette. This palette was the thing that created my love for make-up after all!
Because the palette is mainly neutrals, it helps you steer away from the bright coloured eye shadows until you feel comfortable with your application. It's also pretty hard to go wrong and following simple step-by-step tutorials on youtube can help you apply your eyeshadow like a pro - although it does take some time getting used to it!

Our Favourite Looks using the palette:
Dressy Daytime Look:
- Pack suspect across the lid using the flat shader side of the brush
- Using the fluffy-end of the brush, apply tease along the crease and lightly blend it out
- Apply YDK into the outercorner and carefully along the bottom lashline
- To highlight your inner core, use a small amount of bootycall
- To highlight your brow bone, use foxy
- For an ever so slightly more dramatic look, take snakebite along the lower lash line being careful to not let it drop down
Night out Look:
(optional) Apply a base - We used M.A.C vintage selection as it enhances the shimmer
- First, apply YDK all over the lid
- For a pop of colour in your inner corner, use half baked (the gold really enhances green eyes!), alternatively for a more natural look use verve or bootycall
- To darken up the outercorner, blend a bit of busted in the outercorner and layer to your preference, take a bit of it up into the outer v and the crease
- Layer a small amount of tease on top of busted in the crease to soften it a little
- Then, take blackout in the upper and lower waterline, alternatively you can use a black eyeliner/pencil and blend out the lower waterline a tiny bit to smoke it out
